Haunted Schrop: A Halloween Themed Community Extravaganza
Every October, the air becomes crisper, leaves fall to the ground, and the spirit of Halloween fills the hearts of the Schrop School community. It's that time of year when ghouls, ghosts, and goblins take center stage as we celebrate Haunted Schrop, a beloved tradition that brings together students, parents, teachers, and the wider community for a spooktacular experience.
The Inspiration Behind Haunted Schrop
The inspiration behind Haunted Schrop dates back to the days of the school's old principal, who had a vision of inclusivity. She aimed to ensure that all classroom parties had the same treats and games to create a fair and consistent experience for students. However, this approach left many parents eager to be more involved, which sometimes led to overwhelming classroom events.
In response, the Schrop Parent Teacher Group (PTG) decided to shift gears and bring the community together for a massive after-school Halloween party. This allowed parents and students to choose their level of participation and opened the event to the entire community.
The Month-Long Spooktacular Preparation
Throughout October, classrooms get into the spirit of Halloween by decorating their rooms and doors, with an eye on impressing the judges from the PTG. The classroom with the best decorations wins a gift card for their teacher. In the spirit of giving, the PTG also collects candy donations throughout October, and the classroom that donates the most candy earns a well-deserved pizza party.
Haunting Highlights of the Event
On the night of Haunted Schrop, the school hallways are transformed into a trick-or-treat extravaganza, inviting the community to explore the spooky decorations. But that's not all; the fun continues in the gym, where a DJ sets the stage for a thrilling dance party. Raffle baskets, games, and costume contests for all ages add to the excitement.
For those seeking something deliciously sinister, the cafeteria offers an array of themed foods, including wicked walking tacos, putrefied pizza, haunting hotdogs, and possessed popcorn. It's a culinary adventure that perfectly complements the Halloween atmosphere.
The Return of the Haunted Fun Run
This year, the Schrop School community is thrilled to announce the return of the Haunted Fun Run. Just before Haunted Schrop officially opens its doors, community members of all ages are encouraged to put on their costumes and join in a 1-mile fun run.
For those eager to participate, pre-registration for the fun run is recommended. Additionally, you can purchase wristbands for entry into Haunted Schrop in advance. This not only saves you money but also ensures a smoother experience on the day of the event. To find all the details for registration and wristbands, make sure to visit the Schrop PTG Facebook page.
